Application Process (Please review carefully):

Complete Application Online
Submit $30 (Non-Refundable) application fee. You will be provided the link to pay with a credit card online.
Wait - This is important. Membership is not guaranteed and is subject to approval during our review process
Once reviewed, we will contact you to finalize the process and collect any outstanding dues.

If approved, THEN you will pay the dues for the level you are applying for.

You will be contacted by a member of the review board. You may also receive some automated emails with initial joining information. We will also set up a time to provide you an explainer of our website, and your CTGA of BC Account.
At the next in person member meeting, you will receive a welcome package. This will include (at minimum)

Membership ID Badge (Pending receipt of your headshot)

Please note, from October 1st to May 1st it may take up to 4 weeks to hear from a member regarding your application. During the Summer months of May until October it will take longer. We do NOT meet regularly during the summer the association is on hiatus during that time.

Professional - $85.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st

2.01 Professional

The Professional Membership of the association shall consist of any tour guide actively engaged in the industry as a tour guide as per Definitions in Article 1.02 a) and b). In order to maintain voting membership in the association, members must guide for a minimum of two (2) hours, at least six (6) times in the calendar year. If this term cannot be met, members must apply in writing to the Board for an extension of their membership.

Application for membership is subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

In order to continue having a Professional Membership, each member must attend a minimum of two (2) of the monthly Association meetings that are recognized by the Board in the calendar year. If this term cannot be met, members must apply in writing to the Secretary of the Board for an extension of their membership. Attendance may be in person, or via an online/virtual method, such as, but not limited to Zoom, Google Meet.

A Professional Member will have a vote equal to 2 Votes at any official association meeting that requires a quorum present to conduct association business.

Associate - $65.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st

The Associate Membership will consist of members who guide on a limited basis (5 times or less per year), but will include Tourism Affiliates such as Meet & Greeters, Tourism & Hospitality Educators, Liaison or ‘Fixer’ type services, Concierges, Travel Agents, and related organizations.

In order to continue having an Associate Membership, each member must attend a minimum of two (2) of the monthly Association meetings that are recognized by the Board in the calendar year. If this term cannot be met, members must apply in writing to the Board for an extension of their membership. Attendance may be in person, or via an online method, such as Zoom, Google Meet or other similar electronic method

An Associate member will have 1 vote at any official association meeting that requires a quorum present to conduct association business.
Membership in this category may not exceed one-third (1/3) of the Professional Membership category in accordance with Article 2.04.

Student - $25.00 (CAD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st
Your membership renewal date will be: 1 Jan 2026 No automatically recurring payments The Student membership will consist of people new to the industry and the roles of guiding, and are willing to learn. They have no experience but are looking to gain it through training, mentorship and professional development with the association.

In order to continue having a Student Membership, they must maintain an attendance of at least 50% of the monthly Association meetings that are recognized by the Board in the calendar year.

There will be no voting privileges.

The intention with this level is to lower the barrier for those looking to start their career in guiding. The Student Member would only be at this level for 1 year. At the time of renewal they are expected to have accumulated enough experience to move to the Associate or Professional levels. If they can not meet this standard, they must apply to the Membership Committee to explain the reasons why.
